The best golf swing meets the best golf clubs

Shortly before taking over as CEO of the company, Natural Golf launched its first new line of irons in nearly four years: the ST Hybrid, now called True Blues. In August he led the group that acquired Natural Golf. At the time of the acquisition, the management team that I led felt that the Natural Golf line of clubs was good and that our new team could step in and gradually improve the products over the next several years in pursuit of excellence.

Within thirty days under new ownership, we decided to go full speed ahead in reinventing the entire line of Natural Golf clubs, from driver, irons, putters and fairway woods, all with the goal of bringing you products of great quality according to the players of the best swing. in golf, the Natural Golf Single Plane Swing. Gradual improvement wasn’t going to work. The company’s goal was not to be the biggest, but simply to pursue the goal of being the best company in golf.

No more beryllium copper

The turnaround was much faster than planned due to both problems in the foundry molding our heads and business plan opportunities that demanded we do more, better, and faster than most other golf companies, especially companies of our size.

Natural Golf has won many awards over the years for club designs, and several of the award winners were made from a technically challenging material called Beryllium Copper, a smooth, dense metal with great looks and better playing characteristics. performance. Fairway woods, PLUS Club Hybrids and even Natural Golf wedges are made from this metal alloy. Beryllium copper had come under new government regulations and smelters were discontinuing smelting in beryllium copper. We had four months to redesign and replace a third of the products we sold.

Solution: All New ST 110 Fairway Woods and Moe’s Exclusive Wedges

We commissioned lead club designer Bob Lukasiewicz to get to work on replacement designs for all of these clubs. Using the successful innovation of thin-faced technology in the ST 110 irons, Bob combined design elements of the multi-award-winning copper and beryllium fairway woods with thin-faced stainless steel to create a classic, iron-shaped fairway wood. pear for golfers of all levels.

Natural Golf has offered a better player wedge, but never in forged steel with a rotationally milled face for the ultimate in ball control. In development testing, the replacement Beryllium Copper wedges performed so well that the clubs were named after Moe Norman as the first in a new series of signature clubs. Look for more for better players in the future.

Opportunity: more clubs for more golfers

In our strategic planning sessions we saw opportunities that are not available to other golf club companies. Most club companies are interested in selling high-end, high-priced, custom-built clubs, or selling lower-quality, mass-marketed, off-the-shelf clubs. Natural Golf’s philosophy is that golfers should always play with quality equipment if they are to enjoy success on the course, but we recognize that not all golfers can afford the latest in quality golf clubs.

Also, with Natural Golf’s mission to grow the game and help attract new people to golf, a high-priced set of clubs is rarely an appropriate purchase for a beginner. But they need something much better than dad’s old steel irons and persimmon woods or a $199 irons and woods set from the local discount store.

Hot Peppers – Quality Fun for Novice Golfers

More work for Bob and his team: designing a quality irons and woods set that would be a semi-custom fit and could be adjusted for lean angle when needed at an affordable price.

Modeled after the original Pipeline irons and woods, Bob and his design team reduced and tuned the weight and helped lower production costs to offer natural golfers an affordable line of clubs that would improve the game for the novice golfer, but that would improve playability for golfers. medium handicap levels. The 17-4 steel allows for adjustable lie angles for a better fit while maintaining an affordable price in a quality material.

Improvements across the line

Natural Golf is fully committed to providing quality clubs for golfers of all abilities and all means, without compromising on quality. Some of the other clubs that have been improved, redesigned, or modified include:

* ST 110 irons: now available in a Premier version with GrafalloyTM shafts

* New and improved Natural Groove Mallet Putter with soft square grip (maybe this will replace my original Mallet Thing Putter)

* Updated Moe Norman Sand Wedge – now called “Sandy”

It’s not just the what, but the how… It’s time to treat the customer well

Natural Golf felt it was time to take the lead in the golf industry in customer service. With all the new Natural Golf clubs coming onto the market and with the company’s reputation at stake, it was necessary to make a clear statement of integrity in sales and pricing.
