Make your resume exceed the standards

Sometimes very small changes can get you great results, the same thing happens when you edit your resume according to a few rules. What most people do is copy and paste the context of their friends’ or family’s resumes, which is a high level of error. Copying material from someone else’s resume can make your resume look strange and readers can tell that the content is copied. In other cases, they will simply reject the resume because they will not be able to understand the aim of the applicant, since there would be different types of material merged in one place.

It doesn’t matter if you have already written your resume, you can still modify it according to the guidelines given below to make sure that your resume gives you the results you want:

Renew the format: Have you made your resume using a resume template? If yes, then quickly open your resume and disable the theme in the first place. As a resume and cover letter specialist, I consider ready-to-use resume templates to be the worst invention ever. Because a resume template is something that is used by countless people around the world, so they are extremely common. Since a recruiter receives a large number of resumes that are made using the same templates, it makes his job difficult to differentiate between them. Because all resumes look the same because of these templates, the recruiter is likely to reject all those ‘template-based’ resumes out of anger. I’m sure you don’t want that to happen with your resume, right?

Stick to relevance: Because recruiters don’t pay attention to outdated work experiences and accomplishments, you need to be very specific about the information you keep on your resume. Your resume should only contain your last 10 to 15 years of employment and achievements and should remove all those not related to your current field. If there is a lot of information about various fields of work, your recruiter will find you a restless person who changes jobs and career goals from time to time. As a result, he will lose the opportunity that he has been counting on.

Mingle: If your resume is written in a bulleted or paragraph style, you should edit your resume and format it using both ways. You should write your responsibilities in a paragraph style and mark your accomplishments in the bulleted statements. This will allow the recruiter to easily scan your resume and gather the required information. Also, this way you will be able to format your resume in a way that looks simple yet professional and definitely attracts readers. You should remember that recruiters prefer a simple writing style in the vague form of descriptions.

By following the tips mentioned above, you can edit your resume and format it in the most suitable way that will appeal to your recruiter, which will eventually increase your chances of achieving your dreams.
