With Halo 3 Skulls there are two different categories. There are the Golden Skulls and the Silver Skulls and each of these skulls in both categories achieves something different. However, silver skulls differ from gold skulls. When the player acquires these skulls, they will not unlock any achievements. There are 4 silver skulls in total for the player to find. When these skulls have been found, the player will be able to change things like the dialogue, physics, and appearance of the game. An example of this would be the famous IWHBYD skull. It is better known as the ‘I would have been your dad’ skull. When this skull has been found and the player chooses to use it, the dialog for AI players will change. For a player to obtain any of the Halo 3 Skulls, they must start their level from the beginning and play on Normal difficulty or higher. Once a Halo 3 Skull has been obtained, the player can save and exit the level, they don’t actually have to finish it. However, this is not the case with IWHBYD skulls.
