I have a question for you. Why is there a dead Pakistani on my couch?

Ever since Google’s keyword suggestion tool started a few years ago, funny and somewhat inappropriate suggestions can appear at random during innocent searches.

One of Google’s favorite keyword suggestions on the Internet is “Why is there a dead Pakistani on my couch?” This strange question actually has a humble beginning in a short scene from the American television series “Lost,” created by Jeffrey Lieber, JJ Abrams, and Damon Lindelof.

The television series is actually about a plane crash that leaves passengers stranded on a tropical island, where they have to fight the elements and themselves to survive. The scene under discussion is just a 5 second section from one of its many episodes.

As silly as it sounds, ridiculous searches like this have a relatively high overall monthly search volume. The popularity of these nonsensical suggestions is phenomenal, with the Pakistani couch phrase receiving approximately fifty thousand searches, each month. The surprising thing is that Google does not try to rectify these stupid mistakes, which have no real research value for most Internet users.

Hilarious tips like this sweep the internet and continue to make internet users laugh. Many other suggestions include “Why can’t I have a Canadian” and “Are donkeys waterproof?” Where these suggestions come from and who is initially looking for them is a mystery, but the internet just wouldn’t be the same without them.
