What is the success rate of the Nutrisystem diet?

I sometimes get mail from people asking me what the typical success rate of the Nutrisystem diet is. Some ask how much weight is successfully lost and others ask how much weight is successfully kept off in the long term. In the next article, I’ll look at company data and clinical trials to try to answer these questions.

There is no shortage of Nutrisystem success stories: I suspect that if you’ve come across this article, you’ve already seen many of the “success stories” on the company’s website. Some of these are certainly from famous spokespersons. But, most of them are from normal people from all walks of life. In fact, there are so many that they have been divided into 9 different categories. In other words, the stories start with a weight loss of 20 to 29 pounds and go all the way to people who have lost more than 100 pounds. So if you’re looking for people who have been successful, these examples are very easy to find.

The company doesn’t have a success rate on its site, though it says you can expect to lose around 2 to 3 pounds per week. So, for details, let’s take a look at the clinical trials below.

Clinical trials that help us evaluate the success rate of Nutrisystem: I’m going to look at a couple of clinical trials. The first is a two-year study from 2000 whose results were published in the American journal of physiology, endocrinology, and metabolism. This study looked at postmenopausal women who averaged a weight loss of 21 pounds, which represented about 10 percent of their body weight. The study found that 78 percent of the weight loss was due to fat stores. The researchers then followed the women over the two-year period. The women maintained 35% of the weight loss without any additional diet.

Now, I will move on to a clinical trial that studied the efficacy of the Nutrisystem diet in people with type 2 diabetes. This study was conducted at the Temple University School of Medicine. The trial followed 68 type 2 diabetics while they were on a diet. Half received the Nutrisystem diabetic diet and the other half received the hospital diabetic diet. People on the Nutrisystem lost an average of 18 pounds and saw significant reductions in blood sugar, while people on the hospital diet lost an average of 1.3 pounds.

Both trials show that the participants are successful. I think the real question most people have is whether this diet will really work for them or if they are somehow going to be the exception to the rule.

Determine if Nutrisystem will be a success for you: As I mentioned, I think that when people ask about the success rates of a diet, what they really want to know is if the diet will actually be a success for them. They want to be sure that they will do as well as “typical” dieters and that they have seen results.

I’d have to argue that if you’re following the diet like most people do, you’d be eating significantly fewer calories, sugars, and carbs while consuming more protein and fiber. So in itself it will mean that you are consuming fewer calories than you are burning, which leads to weight loss.

People also often have concerns about the taste of food, but this diet is generally believed to be one of the best in this category with options like pizza, tacos, and ravioli. Portion sizes are tightly controlled and the ratio of carbs to protein is strictly controlled to help you burn more body fat.

Unless you plan to drastically cheat or add too many sides (unlike what is recommended), then you can’t help but eat far fewer calories, fat, and carbs than is normal for you, which usually leads to successful weight loss. for the majority.
