You can find a lot of unusual things in bottles, boats, and messages, so why not fill a bottle with LED lights? What a brilliant idea! This attractive bottle is a great conversation piece; Makes a nice table decoration or festive night light.

To make the bottle light up with LEDs you will need …
A clear glass bottle, a yard or so of tinsel, a roll of toilet paper or a tube of kitchen towel, glitter, PVA glue, and a set of 20 LED lights. You can get them ready to go with a battery compartment at the ’99p Store’ on your local high street. People with confidence in the technology could make their own from individual components. DO NOT use fairy lights from the net, this is a fire hazard!

Wash the bottle first and remove all labels. Use a pleasant-smelling detergent to remove lingering odors from the bottle of its old content. Let the bottle drain and dry completely.

Take the LED lights and the Tinsel, use a small amount of masking tape, and tape the wire directly behind the last LED bulb (the bulb furthest from the battery compartment) to the end of the tinsel strip.

Twist the string of lights and tinsel loosely and carefully push the lights and tinsel into the bottle until the battery compartment rests on the neck of the bottle.

The toilet paper roll or kitchen towel tube will become a stylish bottle stopper that covers the battery compartment.
Draw around the end of the tube on construction paper. A box of groceries is great. Cut the disc and push it to the end of the tube. Use some tape to keep it in place.

Cover the tube and end piece with PVA glue and sprinkle with glitter. Cover the cardboard completely so it is no longer visible. Let dry.

Place the battery compartment on top of the bottle and place the glitter bottle cap on top so that it hides the batteries and part of the bottle neck.
