Fresh Summer Salads – Picnic or Beach Food – Infinitely Variable Green Salad

In this article I am not going to give you a recipe. I am though, but making a green salad is so simple there are virtually no ingredients involved. Actually, I think by reading this you will get more out of this than reading a green salad recipe.

If you find that green salad doesn’t sound all that exciting, I completely understand. It doesn’t really sound that fun, but that’s because you, and I, rationalize that nothing fun can be added to salad. We feel like slaves under the boredom of the green salad. But, of course, you can add whatever you like to this salad!

And actually, the green salad doesn’t match it. There are many green salads! You have the romaine lettuce, you have the iceberg lettuce, and you probably have more to choose from (I honestly can’t think of any other variations, but I’m sure there are).

Have you chosen the greens to use…? Do that, then continue. Take the vegetables you have chosen and separate out any damaged or broken green leaves and start breaking up the rest (into a size that is slightly larger than a bite size). Now, wash the vegetables in a bowl of water. Then dry them on a kitchen towel.

You really want to make sure you wash and dry the leaves properly, because if they are not cool and dry, the dressing will go bad.

To get dressed, you don’t need to do anything fancy (of course you can). Mix a little vinegar, oil and salt. That’s it. One part vinegar, three parts oil works.
