Design of dog training aids for protection training

Training a dog for protection purposes requires a dog to undergo extensive training from a very young age. A dog that must be trained to be used for protection needs to have a very high level of obedience training. The requirement stems from the need to have full control of its aggressive nature, which must be turned on and off only on command from the handler.

What must be kept in mind is that the training of guard dogs and attack dogs is completely different from protection. A protection dog that is often used by the police needs to act on the word of his handler. He is expected to show his aggressive nature to the fullest and become docile at the next command and stop his action immediately and retreat.

A puppy at around 6 to 8 weeks begins to undergo this type of training as a fun game, while the handler trains him by using a rag or similar object to chase and tear him up as a dog training aid. This training aid is replaced by a poor filler of sawdust as the dog ages and takes on the figure of a person.

When he turns 2 years old, the dog is changed into a bite suit or sleeve as a dog training aid. At this time, the subject learns to turn his aggression on and off at the handler’s word alone and can focus on his target specifically as identified by the handler.

On the other hand, a guard or attack dog does not need to exercise as much control and practice obedience as a protection dog does. All of this is done by channeling a dog’s natural instincts in an organized way for maximum benefit to humanity.
