A dog for everyone!

Dogs have been around for as long as man can remember. And for many of us that’s a good thing because our lives have become so much more enriched. There seems to be a breed that suits just about anyone. Good job because some of us are hard to please.

Obviously it depends on where you live as to which dog you can have. It’s no good having a great big dog like the mighty Saint Bernard if you live in an apartment on the fifth floor of a high-rise building. Aside from being cruel, it’s just not practical in any way, shape or form.

No, if that’s you, then a much smaller dog like a chihuahua, pug or jack russell is the order of the day.

Obviously another thing to consider is the costs of dog food and the like. You don’t need me to tell you that big Bernie is going to gobble up more pieces than little Chuiy.

Chihuahuas eat very little, but feeding costs can still be a bit high, as these dogs tend to be picky eaters. However, the recommended feeding for Bernie is up to 4 cans (13.3 oz) of a high-quality meaty product with biscuit added in the same amount or 5 cups of a complete dry dog food. This dog can eat 8 to 12 cups of food a day. Oh!

If you’re looking for a dog somewhere in between, then a Dalmatian could be the perfect fit. The Dalmatian is a 45 to 65 pound dog that is 19 to 24 inches tall. This dog is well muscled without being too bulky or stocky and has a lot of energy. A great go dog if you want a running partner.

Mr Rottweiler or St Bernie need a good sized garden to exercise in. Also remember that these dogs when they are puppies are still quite large dogs, so if you have small children, be careful that they do not hit them or feel flying in some cases.

By the way, don’t be fooled by what you see in the movies, Rottweilers, Doberman Pinschers and the like are not vicious dogs unless they are trained to be. They can be the most loving and gentle of pets, but they can be very wary of strangers.

The Chihuahua, on the other hand, is perfect for an apartment, weighing as little as a pound and standing around 5 inches tall.

However, these tiny dogs (one of the smallest breeds in the world) do not believe what they see in the mirror. In fact, they think they are as powerful as something like a Rottweiler, you just have to admire these little critters and you can’t help but laugh a little when you see them barking threateningly at a much larger dog. .

Wouldn’t you know with a name like Chihuahua this little guy just had to come from Mexico?
