10 basic commitments

1. Being here a year from now As a network marketer, there will be times when you are prospecting and you will receive an objection to your product. Sometimes these objections can come up one after another when you’re making calls, but suddenly someone you’re talking to will say “Yes”! Your enthusiasm level rises, your self-confidence is restored, and you are ready to start again. Don’t be put off by objections or negativity from friends and family. Usually this happens because the prospect needs more information, so he keeps asking questions and listening to what he says so you can address his fears. Remember, there are all kinds of people in the world and this business is not for everyone. You can tell most of the time from your general conversation with an individual if they are a good fit for your business and if you feel like they don’t fit well within your team then that’s when Following to them. Do not try to convince, go ahead, you do not want to seem desperate. Focus on the prospect and their needs, goals, strengths, and interests, not your product during the conversation starter.

2. Commit to personal development (at least 30 minutes/day) When I started my business from home, I am not in the city where my company is based, nor the city where my sponsor lives, so that was a challenge. Then to top it off, shortly after I signed up, my recruiter went inactive so he was on his own with no one else to turn to as my mentor. So, I started looking online for people to coach others and help build personal skills. I met a fantastic woman who does all of that online for FREE! I connected to her Work At Home Profit Zone and that’s why I’m more successful. I schedule into my weekly home business work schedule, 30-60 minutes a day just for personal training. You can’t do it alone, she’s a real asset to any company, so get connected.

3. Expose to a minimum of 2 people every day When you’re building a business of any kind, you have to talk to people every day. Momentum is what you want to create and the way to create it is to talk, talk, talk daily about your product to others. There are script books you can buy online specifically for network marketers that work wonders for you because they take away the fear of not knowing what to say. You read it exactly as written for your prospect. There are also script books that have what to say when a potential customer objects to what your product is and tell you how to address the specific objection. Eg: “I don’t want to and I don’t know how to sell” or “I have to talk to my spouse first”. Usually these objections are only raised because more information is needed. Keep them talking to learn about their needs.

4. Commit to 1 long distance package per week Share your business with someone outside of your state, either through someone you know personally from out of state, or a recommendation you’ve received from a prospect outside of your local area. Expand your base.

5. Commit to 1 event per week (/house party/restaurant/hotel) With every home based business such a gathering is held regularly. As a business owner, you should attend these weekly meetings to support your recruiter, lead by example for your new affiliates, and learn how to present effectively. He wants to become independent with the exception of the training of the whole team.

6. Commit to Quick Start Training (Getting Connected and Staying Connected) A weekly company conference call is crucial! Not only for company updates, accountability, but also for training purposes. These calls are usually from companies, but can also be from your upline member.

7. Commit to training every 4-6 weeks Within your team structure, you should schedule to attend team training at least every 4-6 weeks. If you are the leader, you must sponsor this team training event. Super Saturday is what my team’s training event is called. We invite all team members, we collect a small fee ($5), from members, to defray the cost of the venue. At the beginning of the training, you should give an Overview of the Business for any guest that the team members invite. Guests are invited free of charge and can be excused to leave unless they register at the event and then the training will be rolled out to the newly registered member.

8. Commit to 2 corporate events a year Start saving to attend a minimum of 2 corporate events a year. If there are more than two and it fits your budget, attend more. This is your business, attendance is mandatory.

9. Create a Mastermind Group Focus on 10 Core Commitments Stay focused. Stay engaged, expose a minimum of 2 prospects per day, that’s 14 per week or more.

10. Commit to the game plan interview (process for each newly signed team member) Your game plan interview needs to be simple because you want your new sign-ups to see the ease of being able to duplicate what you do as they become more independent, what do you want them to do Develop a quick start training and use these 10 basic commitments during your interview.

When starting your home based business, you will encounter many ups and downs over time, many friends and family will say or do things that will put you off. Keep your eyes on the prize!

Key Point: Never give up! To grow a team of committed people, you need to have a game plan and that game plan needs to be passed on to every new member you enroll in the business. Consistency, duplication, and staying connected to regular forms of communication are KEY components to growing a team and keeping it engaged. But first and foremost, YOU must lead by example!

As you enroll new members, you must set up an individual interview with them, and this must take place within 48 hours of enrollment. Your discussion should include the quick start training (which can include weekly corporate conference calls and personal online training) and of course these 10 core commitments. Go through them in detail and, where appropriate, have the new enrollee sign a contract that includes their “Why” they want a home based business and 1-3 short term goals along with 1 long term goal. These goals may include, but are not limited to: what income they want to generate monthly, how much debt they want to pay off and in what timeframe, and which vacation they want to take first and when.

When there is a burning desire to achieve whatever your goal is, starting a home business and developing a mastermind approach is an excellent first step toward financial freedom, leadership and control over your destiny, and continued success.

Commit, stay focused and be successful!
