What causes clogged pores on the face?

When the pores on the face become clogged, there may be more than one reason. As a result, there will almost always be an acne breakout. However, the mechanics behind your acne will be the result of a particular substance known as sebum in the first place.

It is waxy and oily in nature and is made up of lipids (fats) in the body. Sebum is created in the sebaceous gland, which in turn is an integral part of the pilosebaceous unit. This unit houses not only the sebaceous glans but also contains the hair and hair follicle. Your entire body (except for the palms of your hands and the soles of your feet) is covered in tiny hairs, the densest area of course being your scalp. The reason we have these tiny hair follicle factories all over our bodies is because sebum is crucial for moisturizing not only hair but also skin.

However, when too much sebum is created, it can, for one reason or another, get clogged in the pores, creating the right (or wrong depending on how you look at it) environment for infection and inflammation, resulting in acne.

Teenagers are more victims of acne, since their bodies produce much more sebum from enlarged sebaceous glands. This is why the spots are more associated with youth.

Most of the time, blemishes and acne will be a matter of coming and going, just a few pimples or whiteheads will have a short-lived ugly appearance, but the unlucky people will suffer from much more virulent forms of acne, ance conglobata, or acne. vulgaris to name two.

Causes of clogged pores on the face?

The areas of your face that tend to suffer the most will be the chin, cheekbones and forehead.

A typical reason why a person might be suffering from clogged pores on their face is irregular or improper cleansing. You should wash your face once in the morning and once before going to bed. Throughout the day, oily skin is a magnet for dust, dirt, and grime. The material literally sticks to it from outside the atmosphere. If you wash your face twice a day, you could be helping to avoid spots.

A word of warning though, don’t over wash, your skin will fight back if all the oil has been washed out, it will create even more to compensate.

Cheap brand name makeup is another culprit, full of chemicals that can cling to your skin and sink into your pores, clogging them and creating the right conditions for blemishes. Switch to water-based makeup whenever possible. Never go to bed at night without removing your make-up first.

Using a good quality skin scrub every few days and a good face mask once a week can help remove any buildup of dead skin cells that haven’t been shed.

Lastly, before you start using any moisturizer, make sure you have chosen one that suits your skin type. There’s a reason manufacturers have a variety of them. Everyone’s skin is different, and if you take the time to figure out which one suits you best, you could save yourself trouble in the long run.
