This charming little piece of Tennessee became the place that drew travelers to the laid-back Appalachian community in the early 1960s. From a small community with modest and unappealing accommodations outside the natural landscape, to a destination attracting up to 10 million guests a year, Pigeon Forge is a great place for families to enjoy it all. There are endless attractions and things to see in this beautiful land connected to the Smoky Mountains, which is exactly why a visit here should be on your family’s fall to-do list.

Dollywood

Recognized by the International Applause Awards as one of the best theme parks in the country, Dollywood is probably the main attraction in Pigeon Forge. This was especially true on May 11 of this year, when Dolly Parton herself acted as the grand marshal of the Dolly Parade. At the park, you are sure to enjoy over forty thrilling rides and attractions along with plenty of great live shows. The one and only “Wild Eagle” is the newest ride here and rises 21 stories above Dollywood and offers an excellent view of the Smoky Mountains and their fall colors at breakneck speeds. Whatever your reason for visiting Dollywood, you are sure to have a great time enjoying it all!

Lumberjack Feud

Be sure to bring the family to this dinner show like no other. When you arrive, you’ll find that the crowd is as much about competition as it is about talent, pitting families against each other like cheerleaders for rival lumberjacks. If you’ve ever been to one of these types of shows, you know that participation is all about having a good time and no hard work is required. Ingenious and talented artists put on a show that is sure to please all generations of your family. You have the option of attending the show, which is worth every penny of the $ 30, or you can combine dinner with entertainment for about $ 12 more for adults. Children’s prices are reduced, of course. Go show your family a good time that they won’t soon forget in the fight. Everyone will be happy they did.

Smoky Mountain Zip Lines

If you’ve never experienced a zip line excursion in the fall, you are missing out! If you have, but haven’t been to this one, you are definitely missing out. Over a mile and a half of lines will take you through the woods at over 40 mph. Safe and exciting, this place is a must for everyone. Upon arrival, army trucks will pick you up to set the tone for the adventure. Quick and clear instructions will keep you on your way safely and comfortably. The staff are friendly, professional, and most of all, fun. The course is perfect for all types of people, from ambitious adrenaline lovers to the most shy for the first time. A wonderful way to enjoy a day in Pigeon Forge, Smoky Mountain Ziplines is another must-try attraction.

Parrot Mountain and Garden

Even if you are not an avid birdhouse enthusiast, you are sure to enjoy the beauty of Parrot Mountain. A little out of the main part of town, Parrot Mountain and Garden is a great place to get some rest while you love the wonder of the wide variety of tropical birds and well-designed habitat. Birds love to entertain themselves by saying some of the “wildest” things while performing tricks to get your attention. Prices vary and are listed on the website, but are not high at all considering the effort these folks put into caring for these remarkable birds. Fly to Parrot Mountain while in Pigeon Forge. You will not regret.

The old mill

Looking for a great place to take your family to eat, shop, and spend some time strolling around Pigeon Forge? Well, look no further. This quaint town offers a clean and picturesque setting that exemplifies the word unique. Another great family destination, The Old Mill combines specialty shops with Southern-style restaurants and eateries perfect for those with an empty stomach and a thirst for vintage crafts and special gifts. Parking is free and shops are usually open most of the day. While shopping and food are excellent I would suggest that the best part of the Old Mill is the surroundings which is a perfect combination of historical landmarks and beautiful natural surroundings.

Zorb

What is a Zorb, you ask? It’s a wild ride that will have you tumble down a hillside into a safe bubble with specially designed tracks. Bubbles with and without water are available inside. So if you want to get wet know that they won’t provide you with dry clothes. Prices vary according to the different packages. If you plan to spend part of your day in Dollywood, know that they are down the road to plan your trip accordingly. This is the only official Zorb site in the US Now it’s unique and fun!

Wonderworks

Again, be sure to bring the family to this one! Fun and exciting for all ages, the building has a legendary “history” of being swept away by a tornado from the Bermuda Triangle, which should tell you that these guys make it fun and lighthearted. The facility is attractive and full of activities for a low price. The cornerstone of this attraction is Terry Evanswood’s “Wonders of Magic,” which draws large crowds, so get there early to get the best seats. With over 100 interactive exhibits like the Inversion Tunnel, Laser Tag, Disaster Zone, and Challenge Zone, your family will have lots of fun things to do.
